Songs of the Season

Ancilla Domini Chapel, 9601 Union Road, Plymouth, IN 46563

As the weather gets colder and the days grow shorter, people all over the world begin to celebrate the holidays. And what would the holidays be without music? Join us on Sunday, December 11th at 3pm at the Ancilla Chapel for a special holiday concert featuring some of your favorite seasonal songs. Soprano Jessica McCormack, tenor JR Fralick, pianist Andrew Jennings, and flutist Rebecca Hovan will be performing a selection of holiday classics that are sure to get you in the spirit of the season. After the concert, we'll be having a reception in Cana Hall, so come and enjoy some holiday cheer with us!

We hope to see you at our Songs of the Season concert on December 11th! The event is free and open to the public.

Teaching the Rhythmically Challenged

Participants will be guided through an examination and analysis of various rhythm patterns to discover what makes them difficult to read.  At the root of this difficulty lies the fact that many students are unable to shift from one beat level to another (i.e. quarter notes to eighth notes to sixteenth notes, etc.).

Various rhythmic combinations will be presented along with a series of exercises to demonstrate a successful, systematic approach to learning and teaching these difficult patterns.  Even those who struggle with rhythm can be successful by following these steps.

60 minutes.

Beginning Flute Syndrome:  The Cause and the Cure

Contrary to popular belief, good flute tone is possible from the very beginning!  In this workshop, we will address the reasons behind poor tone in beginners (or flutists of any level who struggle to produce a clear tone).

Practical tips as well as a systematic and progressive sequence of instruction will be presented that will help band directors and beginning flute teachers increase their percentage of success.
